For decades, the most reliable assessment of a flare’s performance was determined by using visual observation. Today, modern technology allows operators to quantify what the human eye can’t. Introducing ZEECO ViZion – a remote flare monitoring and control device. ViZion uses innovative imaging technology to measure, monitor, and control flare performance. ViZion is approved under the EPA’s Other Test Method (OTM) 56 for measuring and quantifying NHVdil and NHVcz parameters.
ZEECO ViZion can be mounted up to 1,000 feet (305 meters) from a flare tip. While observing flare combustion, the optical camera utilizes simplified video imaging spectro-radiometry (VISR) technology to measure NHVcz, NHVdil (qualifiers for combustion “health”) and smoke index in real-time. In instances where a flare falls outside acceptable combustion parameters, ViZion can be integrated into plant control loops to adjust steam or air control to bring the flare back to peak combustion efficiency. When used properly, ZEECO ViZion maintains destruction removal efficiencies (DRE) of 98% or higher. Optimize the combustion performance of your flare and protect against inaccurate external Subpart W reporting.
